Blue Toad Botanicals, a supplement brand specializing in functional mushroom and botanical formulations, has launched a new supplement called You’ve Got Some NERVE, which is the first product to feature Vanizem, an Aframomum melegueta extract by PLT Health Solutions.

The extract has been clinically evidenced to support measures of mood and sleep, and is featured alongside other botanicals and vitamins including NeuroAEA (Anandamide and Myristicin), Feverfew, passionflower, skullcap, NeuroAGARIC (muscimol), methylated B-complex, benfotiamine, a proprietary terpene stack, and acetyl-L-carnitine.

According to Paul Frantellizzi, co-founder, CEO, and chief innovation officer of Blue Toad, the development and launch of the new product is in line with the company’s mission to offer premium quality ingredients that consumers will feel the benefits of. “Living with nerve issues can be challenging and can take a significant toll on people’s quality of life. It can affect mood, sleep, and impact overall quality of life. Vanizem is a proprietary extract of the west African flower plant Aframomum melegueta, known commonly as grains of paradise. It is standardized to include 10% vanilloids, 1.5% of which is 6-Paradol, which targets the endocannabinoid system.

In a clinical study, Vanizem was associated with improvements in self-reported tension scores, and significant improvements in self-reported sleep quality, mood, vigor, ease of falling asleep, and easier morning awakening.

The ingredient was developed by PLT’s innovation partner, Nektium Pharma, and PLT is the exclusive sales and marketing partner for Vanizem in North America.
